American scientists established that daily consumption of 2100-6000 calories doubles the likelihood of problems with memory in elderly age. The study involved over 1200 people, aged 70 to 89.
According to the researchers, elderly people consuming more calories than they need for living are risk of mild memory loss.
- It is manifested in difficulty of recalling the recent events or memorizing new information.
Besides, other brain dysfunction may develop in future.
“Obesity increases the risk of Alzheimer’s, while limiting the calories reduces the risk of this disease.
Thus, all this overeating concept fits perfectly this data”, – commented Dr. David Levenstein from Miller School of Medicine in the University of Miami (USA).
